Fruits and vegetables are an important part of a child's daily diet as they provide essential vitamins, minerals, fiber and other nutrients for good health. Yet, one quarter of school-age children do not touch vegetables and over one third will eat no fruit during the course of a day.
Help students in your school develop a love for nature's fast food, by celebrating fruits during Apple Crunch in October and vegetables during Go for the Greens in March.
“The Collection Connection 4-H Club had a great time celebrating Go for the Greens. They brought healthy and nutritious "green" foods to share; made spinach and mushroom pizza as a snack; and even shared their health lesson with the local food pantry by collecting canned vegetables for a donation.”
