- screen time alternatives

In a year, the average child spends 900 hours in school and nearly 1,023 hours in front of a TV. Studies show that children tend to be less physically active when they devote large amounts of time to stationary activities - such as TV and computers.

Try replacing inactive screen time with something more active and you'll be helping your family expand their bodies and minds with alternative "entertainment" activities.

Remember, balance is key - media use does not need to be all-or-nothing. There are ways to set limits on screen time that are fun and easy to follow, which may help children miss it less - or not at all.

Post a Screen-Time Chart in a central area for everyone to plan their activities and track their screen time hours. Reward the person who sticks to two hours or less each day.
