When you eat and drink (energy in) to provide the right amount of fuel your body needs for growth and everyday living (energy out), you achieve energy balance. nrgBalance 12345! provides five simple recommendations organizations can adopt to promote good health and help youth achieve energy balance every day.

By enrolling as a nrgBalance Zone, schools are equipped with programs, resources and outreach opportunities to promote good nutrition and active living to youth and families.

Specifically, schools receive access to:

  • online resources - planning guides, health education materials, and promotional templates
  • professional development opportunities
  • physical activity-related programs on walking/pedestrian safety and outdoor recreation;
  • teen-led health promotion campaign
  • after-school program for elementary-aged children and their families
  • annual events promoting walk to school, healthy snacking, healthy meals, and outdoor play
