  1. Why should I enroll?

    2. Enrolling as an nrgBalance Zone is a great opportunity to highlight school wellness efforts. With so many demands facing today's youth and families, schools can play a critical role in helping youth understand the importance of making healthy choices – balancing healthy meals and snacks with regular physical activity.

    Through the campaign, schools receive access to:

    • online resources – planning guides, health education materials, and promotional templates
    • professional development opportunities
    • physical activity-related programs on walking/pedestrian safety and outdoor recreation;
    • teen-led health promotion campaign
    • after-school program for elementary-aged children and their families
    • annual events promoting walk to school, healthy snacking, healthy meals, and outdoor play
    • monthly eNewsletter

    3. The nrgBalance Zones campaign is open to K-12 school buildings (public and private).

  3. Who should lead enrollment efforts for my school?

    4. Throughout the campaign’s history, school health councils have traditionally played the leading role in ensuring their school building completes the online enrollment. Within a school health council, it is often the school nurse, school food service director or physical education teacher that champions the enrollment efforts from year to year.

    5. nrgBalance Zone schools receive access to:

  5. Who do I contact for assistance in getting started?

    6. The Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital is pleased to provide technical assistance to schools that enroll in the nrgBalance Zone Campaign.
