Energy Balance Learning Center

About the Energy Balance Learning Center

The Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital is pleased to offer the Energy Balance Learning Center – a series of professional development Webcasts presenting ways for local leaders (school health, community health, youth-serving, community recreation and employee wellness professionals) to learn how to implement programs, campaigns and events that support the creation of healthier environments.

The purpose of the Energy Balance Learning Center is to build professional capacity and foster dialogue on emerging, evidence-based issues of strategic significance for improving nutrition and physical activity and preventing related chronic health conditions.

Participants may view and take part in Energy Balance Learning Center Webcasts at sponsored viewing locations or on their own desktops, requiring no travel and minimal time away from work.

Participation in Energy Balance Learning Center Webcasts enables participants to:

  • Identify best practices for improving nutrition and physical activity and apply these strategies to their own settings.
  • Stay informed on current issues to improve nutrition and physical activity in an easily accessible manner.
  • Hear from content experts on a variety of health promotion issues.
  • View case studies featuring real communities and leaders who have demonstrated success in changing policies and practices to improve nutrition and physical activity.
  • Ask questions and share best practices during a post-Webcast teleconference.
